Dixie State College of Utah, a member of the Division II Pacific West Conference, will add women’s golf as the school’s 13th intercollegiate sport. Director of Athletics Jason Boothe said the program will begin competition in the 2012-13 school year.
“With the popularity of women’s golf exploding around the country, this program will allow Dixie State to continue to offer the best NCAA student-athlete experience in our conference and the West region, all while continuing to expand Dixie State’s name nationally, as well. With the popularity of golf in Southern Utah, I fully expect great things from this program. It will be exciting to watch it grow.”
The program will begin competition in 2012-13 but will offer current Red Storm students the opportunity to begin practicing in the spring of 2012
With the addition of women’s golf, Dixie State now offers seven women’s sports (basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and cross country) and six men’s sports (basketball, baseball, football, soccer, golf and cross country).
