Matt Mitchell, Grand Valley State head coach
The game will be carried nationally on CBS College Sports at 8 p.m. ET.
Grand Valley State looks to return to the top of Division II after reaching the championship game last year. The Lakers, four-time national champions, are the only Division II team to make the playoffs each of the last nine years and have reached seven national semifinals since 2001. They will be led this year by Matt Mitchell, who will replace veteran coach Chuck Martin.
Observers don’t expect the change at the top to make much difference for perennial power Grand Valley State. In the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll, the Lakers garnered 169 points and 13 of 14 first-place

votes, marking the ninth consecutive year that Grand Valley State has been the preseason GLIAC favorite. The Lakers begin the season ranked No. 2 nationally in the American Football Coaches Association poll.
West Texas A&M, No. 11 in the AFCA poll, is led by Don Carthel, the winningest coach in school history. He has won more than 80 percent of his games in five seasons with the Buffaloes.
This will be the fifth year in which Division II and CBS College Sports Network have partnered to provide Division II schools live national television exposure for their football and basketball programs.
Division II and CBS College Sports Network also televise an annual package of men’s and women’s basketball games. The 2010 basketball package will be announced later.
All games are on Thursdays at 8 p.m. Eastern time
