Alamo Bowl switches dates - Apr 09, 2009 | 10:35:15

The Alamo Bowl will be joining the college bowl games played in January. The bowl, previously played in late December, will be played on Jan. 2 as part of a deal with ESPN. The game pits a Big 12 team against Big Ten. "The January 2 date should also work well for people traveling to the game as they can celebrate Christmas at home and then spend a long weekend ringing in the New Year in San Antonio," Alamo Bowl CEO Derrick Fox said in a statement.
