Lowest ratings ever for BCS bowl game - | 15:16:15

The Orange Bowl between Cincinnati and Virginia Tech drew a 6.1 overnight rating, down 23% from a 7.9 for last year's Sugar Bowl. The 6.1 overnight is the lowest ever for a BCS Bowl, falling below the previous record low of 7.6 for the 2007 Orange Bowl between Louisville and Wake Forest.

I'm surprised that many people watched that game. Anyone who really follows college football (not just their team) knows that the BCS is a joke and because of the way it's set up we the fans are subjected to horrible games like this year's Orange Bowl. TCU and Boise State would have been an ideal matchup for that game.

A meaningless game that starts after 8pm, coupled with Fox Sports' horrible coverage? What's not to like? (Fox does the NFL great, which is why I don't understand why they are so bad at college football. What's with shots of the bands after every single play?)

I've pointed out before how there aren't any good excuses against a playoff, like every other level of football, amateur or pro. And the fact that they have to "tweak" the BCS formula every year proves it's not the solution.

What's up with scheduling the BCS Championship game on the 8th? It was wierd when they started having them on the 2nd, and now we're all the way to the 8th!

But a playoff would lengthen the season too much, right?

It means that two very good teams with very good coaches made it to the final game.
