Welcome to Day 1 of the Double-A Zone's Indiana Basketball Extravaganza!

We are set to kick off our four day journey around the Hoosier state. For the idea behind the trip's creation and our schedule for the weekend, click here on our main Indiana Basketball Extravaganza page (which can be found on the top right corner of the Double-A Zone homepage).

Throughout the weekend, I will be focusing on creating a video about our trip, which we will share with you next week. I will also take numerous pictures along the way, and we will post them as often as possible during our four days.

My colleague, Ryan Powell, will be handling the live blogging throughout the extravaganza, beginning right here:

2:38 p.m. -- Leaving Indianapolis. Mile marker zero. First stop -- Qdoba. Refreshed and filled, we're off to Terre Haute for the women's game between Eastern Illinois and Indiana State. Tipoff set for 5:45.

5:05 p.m -- We've arrived in Eastern Illinois at Indiana State ... no speeding tickets. Temp dropped about 15 degrees from Indy.

5:34 p.m. -- Indiana State takes the floor for warmups.

5:47 p.m. -- We're sitting at press row for tipoff. Howard and I had a chance to meet people from the Indiana State athletics department. The Hulman Center, built in 1974, is a great basketball arena, built. Food and drinks weren't allowed inside the arena until 12 or 13 years ago.

5:51 p.m. -- Talked with the Eastern Illinois media here for the game. Great crowd on hand, even though students are on break.

6:05 p.m. -- We've gotten the scoop on the two teams from a couple of reliable sources. Terre Haute and Charleston are about one hour away. It's traditionally been a big rivalry even though the schools aren't in the same conference.

6:14 p.m. -- Indiana State's roster features seven freshmen. They have scored almost 31 percent of the team's points. Eastern Illinois is led by Rachel Galligan, and according to our sources, she's the fifth leading scorer in school history.

6:24 p.m. -- Fans at the Hulman Center are being treated to a great game. Upset brewing ... halftime score: Indiana State (2-6) 29, Eastern Illinois (8-3) 21.

6:33 p.m. -- Took a walk around the arena at halftime. Indiana State and the Hulman Center have a great basketball history. Larry Bird led Indiana State to the 1979 National Championship game and John Wooden coached two seasons at Indiana State. His record was 47-14.

6:49 p.m. -- Stopped off in the media room for a couple slices or pizza and bottle of water. We're always glad to see a well-stocked media room.

6:55 p.m. -- Back to the action. Four minutes into the 2nd half and Indiana State is up 14 points.

7 p.m. -- Indiana State looks to be in control of the game. Time to pack up and head for Indianapolis. Next up: Trine vs. Anderson, at Conseco Fieldhouse. Thanks to everyone here at the Hulman Center. The Indiana State athletic department has been very hospitable. Thanks again!

9:14 p.m. We're sitting in the media room at Conseco Fieldhouse. Listened to the end of the Indiana State game online. The Sycamores won 64-52 behind a career-high 24-point effort from Kelsie Cooley. In less than 24 hours, Indiana State will be back on the court. They'll take on Kansas State at 5:35 p.m.

9:24 p.m. -- Pacers game is close. Looks like it could go overtime. It Might be a late start to the Anderson/Trine game. Stay tuned.

9:36 p.m. -- Overtime. Pacers can't keep the lead, and they turn the ball over in the final seconds. Anderson and Trine will have to wait a little longer to take the floor.

9:42 p.m. -- Enjoying overtime pie in the media room. Thank you, Pacers.

9:49 p.m. -- Double overtime at Conseco. More pie!

9:58 p.m. -- Out of pie. 90 seconds left. Pacers down 4.

10:08 p.m.-- Pacers fall to the Clippers 117-109. Not sure when the Anderson/Trine game will start.

10:40 p.m. -- Both teams warming up. Game starts in two minutes.

10:56 p.m. -- Trine leading 19-15 with 12 minutes left in the first half.

11:25 p.m. -- Halftime. Anderson leads 39-31. Having the chance to play at Conseco Fieldhouse is a great experience for the student-athletes and fans. Both teams shot lights out in the first half.

11:36 p.m. -- Just got my hands on the ball and saved the laptop from destruction.

11:43 p.m. -- Problems with the scoreboard. Refs take quick timeout to fix things.

11:47 p.m. -- How many Division III games have ever gone past midnight?

clock.jpg

12 a.m. -- No sign of cinderella, and Anderson is pulling away, 60-43.

12:13 a.m. -- Both teams empty the bench. Great to see thecoaches getting all the student-athletes into the game.

12:15 -- Both teams played until the final buzzer, and have memories to last a lifetime. Anderson wins 69-52. See you later today.

Day 1 of the Indiana Basketall Extravaganza is over. We saw two great games college basketball games and the Pacers lose in double overtime. We'll be right back here tomorrow for Day 2. See you in the morning..
