In honor of the 36th anniversary of Title IX, the Double-A Zone's Campus Connection has featured conversations with women in conference leadership. This week features Julie Ruppert, the new commissioner of the Northeast-10 Conference. Ruppert, who was hired this spring, is the first woman to hold a conference commissioner job at the Division II level. Before joining the Northeast-10, she spent 15 years as senior associate commissioner for the America East Conference.

In this interview, Ruppert discusses her day-to-day responsibilities, women in sports leadership roles, and she offers advice for young women who want to be involved in intercollegiate athletics administration.

Last week, the Double-A Zone featured Bernadette McGlade, the commissioner of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The series will conclude next week with a conversation with Donna Ledwin, the commissioner of Division III's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

I believe if the student-athlete has proven him or herself to be a responsible student who has time management then they should choose exactly what they want to do outside of collegiate athletics.
