  • Check out this video of the incredible devastation at Luther. At least one athletics facility was damaged:

  • In the last 32 years there has never been an 18-year-old qualifier for the Olympic wrestling team. That changed in a recent Olympic qualifying match when teenager Jake Deitchler made the team by beating a 32-year-old member of the Army. To even get to the finals, he had to beat 2006 world bronze medalist Harry Lester. Deitchler is just two weeks out of high school and plans to attend the University of Minnesota in the Fall.
  • Wow, what a showing last night from the NBA champion Boston Celtics. The Celts dismantled the Lakers by a score of 131-92 for the franchise's 17th championship. The amazing thing about this game was not that the Celtics won, but how they did it. Can you think of a time in NCAA championship history when the score was as lopsided as last night's game? Maybe Ohio State and Florida, but even then the Buckeyes only lost by 26.
  • The scene yesterday afternoon in the College World Series had slightly more suspense than the end of the NBA game. LSU fought off elimination with a three run walk-off double by Blake Dean in the bottom of the 9th inning to lead the Tigers to a 6-5 victory over Rice, which sent the Owls home. In the nightcap, unseeded Fresno State continued its solid play and handed North Carolina its first loss of the postseason in a 5-3 victory. LSU and UNC will battle tomorrow in an elimination game, with the winner needing to beat the Bulldogs twice to earn a spot in the championship series.

It means that two very good teams with very good coaches made it to the final game.
