Saturday was emotional for me, as I found myself in the middle of five national championship celebrations. The pure, unadulterated joy of the student-athletes as they celebrated their victories is one of the most beautiful scenes you can imagine.
Having seen all six finishes, I might offer some insight into the art form that is the championship celebration. We are all most familiar with the basketball/football/baseball/hockey-type celebration, and as you might expect, that's exactly what we got from the softball and women's lacrosse champions - Humboldt State and West Chester, respectively.
But the tennis and golf celebrations were unique and I found both quite interesting. In tennis, three doubles points are decided before singles play commences. Therefore, after doubles competition, teams have anywhere from 0-3 points and need to win enough singles matches to get to five points. When the fifth point is clinched, all of the other matches stop, and the celebration begins. Because everybody is spread out on different courts, the celebration continues to happen as a new player finally reaches the player who clinched.
Armstrong Atlantic won both tennis championships, and it was neat to see a joint celebration after the men clinched. I found that particularly enjoyable.
As for golf, there are a couple of different championship scenarios. When Rollins won the golf championship, Joanna Coe's teammates had all completed their rounds and were waiting for her to finish on the 18th green. Because the men's championship ended in a playoff, golfers were carted from various holes and met each other one at a time to celebrate.
I was fortunate to have a camera at all six championship celebrations and thought each was poignant in its own way. Watch the video and let us know what you think.

I'd much rather be a lacrosse player than a golfer

Josh,
Glad you had a chance to be there. Wish I could have seen the M & W Tennis teams of Armstrong State win.
Next year suggestion that I would like to see you do would be to go out on skates at the Frozen Four. Would you fall?

It means that two very good teams with very good coaches made it to the final game.
