Theulen, who until recently served as head men's basketball coach at the college, has helped WNEC transform an athletics department without any full-time head coaches to one of the leading Division III programs in the Northeast.

In this edition of Campus Connection, Theulen discusses WNEC's academic and athletic success, the return of Iraq veteran Brody Savoie to the men's lacrosse program and the college's commitment to the Division III philosophy.

I am an Alum of the Lacrosse program (1984). I played the first 3 years of our varsity program beginning the spring of 1982. It was exciting times and we had a blast - did we realize that we were building the program we have today at WNEC? No way! During the first 3 varsity seasons we had only 1 win each year.

We were glad to get the money to travel to about 8 road games, uniforms, equipment and compensation for the first coaches that worked with us. President Caprio and Mike have utilized the giving power of supporters of WNEC to build the Healthful Living Center; now the centerpiece of the Athletics program. It is a great recruiting tool for students and a lasting example of WNEC's expectation of the development of a sound mind and body that is delivered throughout the campus and the community.
