• It was a special Senior Night in Manhattan last night, as Kansas State guard Clent Stewart proposed to his girlfriend Stephanie Harwell during the pre-game ceremony. Harwell said yes and the crowd went wild. Stewart went on to score nine points and helped the Wildcats to a 78-72 victory over Colorado. While the win was nice, it’s more likely that Stewart will remember his final home game for what happened before it started.

• Harvard has decided to close one of its gyms to men for a few hours each week, in order to accommodate Muslim women who won’t exercise in front of men due to religious beliefs. The policy has been met with a lot of criticism from the campus community. Question of the day: What do you think of the decision?

• Drexel basketball player Nicole Hester missed last season while battling cancer and the Dragons really missed her presence en route to a 10-21 record. This season, Hester has returned and the V Foundation Comeback Award finalist has helped Drexel to a 17-11 record while averaging more than seven points per game.

• Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels wasn’t content to simply honor the state’s outstanding Mr. and Miss Basketball. Yesterday, the state announced it would also create awards for the most outstanding math and science students—Mr. and Miss Math and Mr. and Miss Science.

• Georgia State head softball coach Bob Heck is a heck of a guy. At 82, he’s older than JoPa, and Heck still runs drills with his players, cleans dugouts and drags the infield. More importantly, Heck donates his $45,000 annual salary to the program, amounting to more than $700,000 in donations.

• In this morning’s L.A. Times, Robyn Norwood points out that bubble teams rarely do anything in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. She writes that “over the last five seasons, only nine teams seeded No. 9 through No. 12…made it to the Sweet 16.” Norwood is correct – most bubble teams aren’t going to make much noise. But the possibility does exist (thank you George Mason), so bubble obsession will always be a part of March Madness.

• It’s the end of an era for arguably the most successful Division II women’s basketball coach in history, as Amy Ruley has decided to step down at North Dakota State to become an associate director of athletics at the school. Ruley has spent 29 years at the helm of the program, leading the Bison to five Division II national titles and a move to Division I.

• Attention Baylor and Texas A&M fans: tonight will be a fun night of hoops action. At 6 EST, ESPN Classic will replay the January 23 five-overtime game between the teams that Baylor won 116-110. At 9, ESPN2 will air the rematch.

• It will be hog heaven in Fayetteville this weekend, as Arkansas men’s basketball players from the 1950s and 60s hold a reunion in conjunction with Saturday’s game against Auburn. Nearly 30 former players will be present, including several from the 1958 Southwest Conference championship team celebrating its 50th anniversary.
