About The Blog -
posted by: Josh

The NCAA launched its new media efforts in November 2005 with the creation of the Double-A Zone, the official blog of the NCAA. The Double-A Zone started by offering a daily post with commentary about specific Association issues and has developed into a public forum that features weekly podcasts with NCAA President Myles Brand, frequent posts from student-athletes and coaches, live blogging from NCAA campuses and a daily look at college sports news.

At the core of the Association's new media efforts, the Double-A Zone has served as an effective learning tool for student-athletes and administrators. The blog has evolved into the Internet's top spot for the student-athlete voice and provides information about all three divisions of the NCAA.

Thousands of individuals read the Double-A Zone each month and many share their own thoughts about intercollegiate athletics. Nearly 100 campuses have added permanent links to the blog on their athletics Web pages and many have encouraged student-athletes to share guest blogs as a professional development opportunity. Coaches also share their thoughts regularly.

The blog provides stakeholders in intercollegiate athletics with the chance to set the record straight about issues that impact them on a regular basis and to learn from colleagues around the country. Conversations are generated and administered through a comment section at the end of each post.

Readers are encouraged to submit all pertinent information for inclusion on the blog to Josh Centor, NCAA coordinator of new media communications at jcentor@ncaa.org.
