Mondays With Myles: Are Weekday Football Games Acceptable? -
posted by: Josh

It seems that hardly a night goes by during the fall without a college football game hitting the airwaves. Years ago, football games during the week were few and far between.

This may not seem like much of a big deal, as most other college sports have games at least once or twice during the week. But is this trend appropriate for the sport of football? Are conferences allowing television networks to play too much of a role in the scheduling of games?

On today’s edition of Mondays With Myles, NCAA President Myles Brand says it’s a two-edged sword. Let us know if you're a fan of weekday games in our latest Double-A Poll.

I think that football being played during the week is ok in some situations. I do not like when teams have to play a game on Saturday and then have to play 3 or 4 days later. I think that if a team is going to play a game during the week, they should have a bye week or have had at least 5 days off before they play that game.

While there are more and more games being played during weekdays, more people get to watch the games. This can get the school more money and it can be good for the athletes because NFL scouts can be focusing on just the one game. This kind of exposure can really help athletes trying to get into the big leagues.

Maybe this young man will be the next Michael Jordan but if they do not make the proper plan up front they won't make it to the end game.
