The Division I Board of Directors is meeting this morning in Indianapolis to discuss the issue of text messaging as a recruiting tool. Two weeks ago, the Division I Management Council eliminated text messaging after the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee was vocal in its disapproval of the practice. Some coaches have protested the decision, and the Board of Directors has the opportunity to reverse the legislation today.

"When I start reading articles when kids are getting 20 messages a day from certain schools, I doubt very much there is any head coach who is trying to do the same job I am that is sending out 600 messages a day. So something is happening that is not on the up and up," said Bret Bielema, University of Wisconsin head football coach.
