North Carolina Mascot Passes Away - Mar 26, 2007 | 13:27:27

North Carolina student Jason Ray died this morning after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle on Friday. Ray served as the Tar Heel mascot for the past three seasons and was just a couple of blocks from the team hotel when he was hit. Although he wasn???t a student-athlete, Jason was revered by the UNC community and this is a significant loss for the world of intercollegiate athletics. 
CommentsThis is truly sad. It's not a good thing when an individual who symbolizes the spirit of a university passes away so tragically. I'm certain the school will do something to honor his life in an appropriate manner. This is a terrible tragedy for all. The mascots who support us are as important as those playing the game. Jason will be in my thoughts and my condolences to his family and everyone in the UNC community. Post a Comment |
  
It means that two very good teams with very good coaches made it to the final game.
