After learning about the Double-A Zone at the recent Division III Regional Leadership Conference, Rosemont tennis student-athlete Kristy Bannon decided to begin sharing her voice with us on a recurring basis. Following is the junior’s first post.
For my first post, I will start with the basics. My name is Kristy Bannon and I am a junior at Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. My hometown is Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, which is in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I graduated from Hanover Area High School in 2004. In high school, sports were my life. I was involved with many other things including being the president of the National Honor Society, but sports were my passion. Hanover was the perfect place and like many small towns, our school centered on athletics. Friday night football games and big basketball games, though cliché, were the highlight of the week. Then I came to Rosemont College.
Rosemont is a Division III women’s college. The school is very small (372 of us to be exact) and Rosemont’s focus is academia first, everything else second. The atmosphere at Rosemont allows me to be very involved on campus. I am a History/Political Science major and captain of the tennis team. I am also a member of campus and conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC). These activities make for a very busy schedule.
My season ended in October with our PAC championships. My doubles partner and I made it for singles and doubles. We did well, and she won the #1 singles competition. I would like to say more about the tennis team, but we do not play in the spring. My only tennis training consists of going to the gym every morning. Besides staying in shape, my biggest priority is writing my senior thesis so I can graduate next year! That is my life in a nutshell! I hope to post again soon!
